Environmentally friendly

Our beautiful country is famous for its vast forests, clean rivers and the desire of all of us to preserve it.

Our company is commited to measures to reduce environmental impact on a daily basis.

At Hotel Bau Maribor we strive for a cleaner environment, you too can help us with that!

We want ecological awareness and green thinking and consequent actions to become a routine of our daily lives, not only at home but also on the go. Every day we try to set an example with our way of working and we encourage our guests to strive for the lowest possible carbon footprint.

Our guideline from the very concept of construction was to choose the best materials according to the principle of long-term benefits: reduced energy consumption, long life and pleasant living.

We used:

• furniture made of solid local wood,
• pure wool carpets,
• cotton linens and mattresses,
• vapor-permeable insulating materials,
• heating with renewable sources – wood chips – neutral carbon footprint,
• ventilation via recuperators (waste energy is transferred to fresh inlet air via recuperation exchangers),
• rainwater harvesting,
• choosing a ‘smart’ electrical installation that ensures that when the window is open, the heating or cooling of the room is turned off,
• the card system of entering the room allows all electrical appliances in the room to be switched off when we leave the room,
• multi-layer windows,
• thicker insulation.

We are happy to improve our knowledge and efforts for a cleaner tomorrow in this field. We are proud to share with you that we are the recipients of the Green Key, Slovenia Green Accomodation and Green and Safe environmental labels.

Since the establishment of the hotel, we have changed:

• withdrawal of disposable plastic packaging and plastic straws,
• in our lobby bar we replaced all the drinks in plastic packaging with those in glass,
• our lamps are based on LED technology,
• outdoor lights are limited with timers,
• we have introduced the change of towels and bed linen at th request of the guest,
• we try to offer our dear guests exclusively local and seasonal products in our rich breakfast buffet,
• we separate waste.
