1. The Old Vine, World’s Oldest Vine

In the heart of the old city centre on Lent, the oldest vine in the world still grows in front of the Old Vine House, the vine is over 400 years, which won it a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest noble vine in the world still bearing grapes. To find out more you can read at this link.

2. Glavni trg square

The main square Glavni trg is the largest of Maribor’s squares, where the history and the hustle and bustle of town life flow into one. More here.

3. Franciscan church

When strolling through the old town core, it is impossible to overlook the “reddish” Franciscan church with its monastery, which proudly stands next to important streets in the centre of town, namely the streets Partizanska cesta and Svetozarevska ulica.

In our immediate vicinity you can walk up to the hill on which the church stands. From the top of the hill there is a unique view of the northern slope of Pohorje and the Maribor plain. At our reception you can also learn the legend that is related to this hill.

5. Lent

Stroll through the oldest part of town, the beautiful Drava promenade.Every year, Slovenia’s largest outdoor festival and also one of the largest in Europe is conducted hereFestival Lent.

 6. Maribor Cathedral Bell Tower

Climb to the observation deck of Maribor Cathedral’s bell tower, which also once served as a fire lookout tower and visit the museum exhibition The Guardroom on the Tower on the top. More Information here.

7. Židovski trg square
You will find the square by exploring the Jewish quarter of the city, which was formed in Lent, the oldest part of Maribor. The square boasts a Synagogue, which in every Jewish quarter was a religious, spiritual and cultural centre.

8. Castle

One of the most remarkable architectonic monuments of our city grew exuberantly right in its centre: Maribor’s town castle. More about the castle and its history here.

9. Piramida hill

Take half an hour and, starting from the City park, ascend the 386-metre high town hill. From the spot, where once the Maribor castle used to stand, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the vines on the slopes and of the whole city.

10. Pohorje
