Did you know that Nikola Tesla once lived in Maribor? That we have Guinness world record holder – the Old Vine? Well that was easy and you probably knew that. What about the fact that we have tunnels in Maribor, where a German aircraft engine factory was located during the Second World War? You will find a guardhouse on the top of the bell tower of the city Cathedral, where the city guard used to live, warning the people of fires. And how about the oldest synagogue in this part of Europe?
As you can see, Maribor offers plenty of unique experiences. For some of these experiences even locals dont know. Walk along the paths of the city walls, visit the castle, see where, according to legend, a shoemaker opened the gate and saved the city from the Ottoman invasion. You have surely heard for Ljudski vrt, where purple hearts beat for Maribor Football Club. Maribor is much more than a romantic cup of coffee or a glass of wine on Lent, altough it also has its charm.
Indulge in excellent culinary masterpieces prepared by chefs and confectioners in the Styrian capital.
The city gets it’s real identity not from the sights, but from it’s people. When you visit Maribor, you will soon find out that you are among the kind, good-natured and hospitable people.
