Autumn highlights 2017

Autumn in Maribor is in wine colors and rich with cultural and sporting events. As the place of the oldest vine in the world, in autumn, Maribor also has the Old Vine Festival, which hosts many traditional events, excellent wine offer and a lot of culinary delicacies.

We started the autumn with a special festival dedicated to micro beer breweries. At the end of September, the 4th Macro Beer Fest took place.

Maribor was once one of the most important rafting towns along the Drava river, and up to 2000 rafts were allowed to tansport over 200,000 cubic meters of wood annually in Maribor. Every year, during the harvesting of the Old Vine in the city, the Splavarski krst is also being held, where the young rafters were baptized. From the Old Vine House to the Maribor Island you can walk by the Splavar Learning Trail, which will take you back in the time of the rafts.

Maribor also received the honorary title “Maribor – The Rafting City” in 2012.

Our hometown – Maribor is a peaceful, clean, friendly, green city. We love it, we know it, but we are  always  surprised what kind of “treasures” are still  hidden. We, the employees at the Bau Hotel on the first Thursday in November acted as tourists in our home town. We wanted to check what can we offer and recommend to our guests and to what places of interest in our hometown can we send them.
